Having completed my stay in Washington, DC, which was city #4, it's time for the next one - and that's Brooklyn, NY! I arrived here on the Bolt Bus this morning ready for a day of adventure! My coworker Kristen from Chinatown Coffee Company made the trip up here with me for the day as well.
In Brooklyn, I'll be working at a new shop in Cobble Hill, and I'll share more about that as the time comes. Currently I'm seated neatly in Gimme! Coffee's Williamsburg location. This shop is comfortable and simple, and I like it. Earlier today, I met Kristen at the new Stumptown location at 29th and Broadway and had a very tasty shot of Hairbender (which, as far as I know, is Stumptown's feature espresso) prepared by James. The shop looked great and the employees were dressed very memorably!
Unfortunately, this jaunt to Brooklyn is just a day trip - work won't start here 'til next week, but it's good to get a glimpse of what I'm in for! For now, Kristen has gone off to go get tattooed at Brooklyn's Three Kings. In the mean time, I'm writing diligently, drinking cup after cup of coffee, and keeping my eyes stretched wide open so I don't miss anything important.
When Kristen gets back, I'm off to Manhattan to meet the gentleman I'm renting a room from in order to finalize the deal on my Brooklyn residence from now until the end of May.
Then, it's an overnight bus-ride back to DC, where I'll stay for another week until making the permanent jump back on Monday, January 25. In the mean time, I'll be pulling a few shifts at Chinatown Coffee Co. to keep busy, and getting re-acclimated to life in the cities.
It was good to see everyone in Raleigh over the last four weeks. I am eternally appreciative of all your support and encouragement! No matter where I travel or what great coffee adventures I uncover, there will never be anything quite like home.
It was good to see you too, Seth! I'm looking at relocating to DC, and with fares so low on the BoltBus (thanks for pointing that out), I might have to make it 3 cities that I've seen you in.
That's fo' damn sure. Enjoy Brooklyn. It will love you tenderly, I know it. Tenderly, as a meat tenderizer loves some hog hocks. Slice! Raleigh liked seeing you. Come back again, sometime.
